My Mum’s Christmas Picks

Hi everyone! With it being the lead up to Christmas, I thought I would do something different and show you a few of my mum’s favourite things this Winter. These are all good ideas if you’re stuck on a gift for your own mum, or anyone else for that matter!

My mum is definitely one of those people who would always prefer to receive one really nice, luxurious gift, as opposed to two or three ok ones, so while these are all quite expensive, just one would suffice for a great gift. It’s quality over quantity after all!

So what do we have here?

(1). Jo Malone Orange Blossom Body & Hand Wash (£28) and Body & Hand Lotion (£38)

What woman doesn’t love Jo Malone? Yes the prices are steep, but the quality is incredible. The orange blossom scented collection is absolutely divine and incredibly fresh. These also have the added benefit of being used for either hands or body. If you need something a little less pricey though, L’Occitane have a lovely selection.

(2). Chanel – Coco Mademoiselle (£67.50 for 50ml)

This is my mum’s favourite perfume right now. For a long time, she was wearing J’adore by Dior, but recently this has taken the number 1 spot. It is a very light, floral scent although the oriental notes of jasmine give it enough punch to make it suitable for the winter months as well. The bottle is also very pretty and delicate.

A bottle of a woman’s favourite perfume will always be an appreciated gift, but if you can’t really afford to spend that much at Christmas time, here is another cheaper but equally luxurious option:

Chanel – Coco Mademoiselle Moisturising Body Lotion (£37.50 for 200ml)

My mum says that she often prefers using this to a perfume! The scent will last a lot longer and is more subtle, plus it has the added benefit for your skin as well! At about half the price, it’s a more budget-friendly option. There are also many other cheaper options such as the Perfumed Bath Soap (£18.99), the Foaming Shower Gel (£33.50) or the Velvet Body Oil (£41.50). These are great gift ideas, because mums are certain to love them, and they’re a bit different!

(3). Dior 3 Couleurs Ready-to-wear Smoky Eyes Palette in Smoky Brown (£36)

For busy mums on the go, these little eye shadow compacts are the perfect idea. My mum loves this one by Dior, as the colours are very simple and classic. There is a nude base colour, a sparkly medium brown, and a dark brown for definition or brows.

(4). Dior Addict Lipstick in 646 Wild (£24)

I bought this lipstick for my mum last Christmas but I just had a little look online and couldn’t seem to find this shade on the website. They may have discontinued it which is a shame as it’s a gorgeous colour. However, there seem to be other similar shades such as 624 Feline.

Without wishing to offend anyone or make stereotypes, I think a lot of women, as they get older start to move away from bright, bold lips and funky-coloured eye shadow, instead leaning towards natural nudes and browns. This lipstick is a beautiful coppery brown/red and looks fantastic on everyone of all ages and skin tones. The case is also very glamorous and the texture is lovely and buttery. My mum has been wearing this a lot through Autumn and Winter.

(5). Lily Flame Wild Jasmine Candle Jar (£12)

A much more affordable option which still looks very impressive! This range of candles, available from John Lewis, come in a variety of beautiful scents, each more delicious than the last. Scents include Bluebell Forest, Daisy Dip and Verbena. However, this Wild Jasmine one has always been my mum’s favourite, (we have about 4 in the house!).

Floral, fresh and just genuinely beautiful, light one while you’re in the bath and you’ll feel like you’re floating away on a cloud of jasmine flowers or lying in an oriental garden somewhere in the Far East. For the price, these are a fantastic purchase.

What are you buying your mum for Christmas this year? Do you have any recommendations for a gift?

Thank you for reading!
