Hi everyone!! It’s Wednesday which means I have another fab product to review for you. And just like my February Favourites, this is a drugstore item, exclusively from Boots, and costs only £12. Yay! I don’t know what’s happened to me recently you know. I used to be such a makeup snob and would rarely sing the praises of anything which wasn’t high-end, but the last few months, I’ve been absolutely loving the budget beauties! Just goes to show, you can’t judge a book by its cover…or label.
Anyway, back to today’s review…Now, if like me you’re on the combination/oily skin side of things, then I encourage you to read on…
Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot
As a combination girlie, I often find that my T-zone starts to get shiny as the day goes on. No matter what I do, whether it’s slapping on a good quality primer and a long-lasting foundation, or rocking the completely bare-faced look, Miss Shiny Forehead would make an appearance after about 3 hours. Give it another 2 hours and her sisters, Greasy Nose and Oily Chin would come out to play too. So what to do?? Before, I would just brush my Chanel Poudre Universelle Compact over my T-zone, after using a couple of Boots Skin Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets (these are lifesavers by the way), but I couldn’t help but feel that this was just exacerbating the problem by caking on more makeup.
Well, now I’ve found the perfect solution. One Heck of a Blot is perfect for just absorbing up any oil residue and leaving your makeup looking fresh and shine-free. The powder is completely translucent so it won’t have any effect on the look of your makeup. All it does is mattify everything and give your skin a velvety finish.
The packaging gets double points from me as well. Not only does it have the cute, vintage style as with every other Soap & Glory product, but it comes in a handy mirrored compact with a little sponge, making it perfect for on-the-go application. Now I just pop this in my handbag and if I notice a bit of shininess starting to appear, I dab a little on with the sponge. Just make sure to wash the sponge regularly like you would a normal makeup brush!
I still use my beloved Skin Clear Sheets, but this powder helps to mattify skin and truly banish Miss Shiny Forehead for good. And I can tell you, I’m definitely not going to miss her.
Have you tried any blotting powders? What do you think? Have I encouraged you to go out and try this one?
Thanks for reading,
