Tinted moisturiser…One of the few beauty products which I’ve never really been a fan of. In the past, I’ve tried ones by Nivea and Olay, but I found they made my skin look quite oily. I’m also more of an all or nothing kind of girl which means I tend to either be rocking a full face of foundation or just baring it all to the world. However, my mum has always loved her Estee Lauder Daywear Tinted Moisturiser, and when I was home for the weekend she kindly let me borrow it for a review. So did it change my mind??
On first look this moisturiser has some great qualities. SPF? Tick. Pretty packaging? Tick. Now what’s it like to wear??
Ok, there are definitely many plus points to this product. It feels very soft and hydrating, it gives skin a natural tan and it lasted well throughout the afternoon. But….I’m still not sure!
I can’t put my finger on why I don’t really like this, but I think there are three main reasons. (1.) It has a slight grainy quality which feels quite strange on application; almost like there’s grains of sand within it. (2.) It doesn’t really offer any coverage so I still have to go over certain areas with concealer. If I want to wear face makeup, I’d rather go for a BB cream or foundation which is going to at least do a little concealing. (3.) I don’t think this works with my combination/oily skin. It makes it look quite greasy and I feel like I have to keep going over it with a blotting powder.
I know I sound like I’m being really negative, but I can actually see why my mum likes this so much. I think if you have dry but very clear skin, and just want a bit of a glow, then this is for you. The jury’s still out on tinted moisturisers in general, but for now, I think I’ll stick to my YSL BB Cream for natural daywear.
What do you think of tinted moisturisers? Do you have a favourite or like me, are you more of a BB cream fan?
