Gosh, has it really been 10 days since I blogged anything on here?? What can I say… I was swept away by the Italian sun and sea, and have just been completely switched off since then. Ok, I’ve still been using Twitter and Instagram, I’m not that switched off. But now I’m back in good old England *sob*, so get ready for lots of Italian themed travel posts coming your way over the next few weeks. First up though, I have another beauty review for you all!
A few weeks ago, I popped into Boots to buy a few holiday essentials. While I was there, I couldn’t help but take the opportunity to visit the Clinique counter… it just looked so alluring after all. And for some time now, I’ve really had my eye on their CC Cream. My skin is generally quite good nowadays, although I do tend to get a little redness around my nose, cheeks and chin, so the idea of a colour correcting cream, which smooths and evens out complexion sounded ideal. Plus, the fact it has an SPF 30 (sun protection has been something I’ve been more focused on recently), as well as a hydrating factor, sounded right up my street and ideal for when I start working full time. The Clinique saleswoman kindly gave me quite a generous sample to take home with me, and I’ve been testing it thoroughly over the last few weeks! Read on for my thoughts below…
First things first, I do think the shade which was given to me was a teensy bit too dark for me. I like my makeup bases to completely match my skin and I found this gave me the dreaded foundation jawline-streak *shudder*. I also found the formula to be quite a bit thicker than I expected. It felt more like a foundation than a day-wear cream which slightly put me off. On the other hand, once it’s blended in, it actually feels really lovely and light on the skin. As for the colour correcting side, it definitely does what it says on the tin. If you look at the photos below, you can see how post-application my skin looks a lot more even and less flushed. So if you’re someone who suffers with a bit of a “tomato face”, I’d definitely give it a try!
Overall, I’m not sure that I would invest in a full-sized bottle of this CC cream. I just don’t love it quite as much as my beloved Diorskin Nude BB Cream, which isn’t much more expensive. But if you want something to even out redness and discolouration, as well as give you a bit of moisture and sun-protection, this could be worth checking out!
What do you guys think? Have you tried this CC Cream or any others from a different brand?
