June Favourites

Ok, I know that I and pretty much every blogger says this at the beginning of their monthly favourites post, but seriously, HOW is it already July??? It feels like just yesterday that I was sitting in my freezing student flat back in December, desperately trying to warm my shivering fingers by our plug-in heater (ohhh student life, don’t ya miss it?). And now, I’ve spent the last week wearing shorts and drinking cold shandies in the garden. Time flies hey.

June has to be one of my favourite months of the year though, and there’s been lots of fabulous beauty discoveries which I’ll be using plenty of this summer.

Let’s start with the skincare..

I finally got on board with the whole “oil for oily skin trend” recently with this Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil from The Body Shop. And guess what, I’m still loving it. This removes makeup like a dream and leaves my skin feeling silky smooth (clue’s in the name right?) but not at all greasy.

The only downside? This is definitely not travel proof. I learned that the hard way after opening my toiletry bag on our first day in Italy to find all of my beauty products had been left with a delightfully sticky sheen *mmm*. For the rest of the trip, I had to wrap the dispenser in tissue paper before I packed it, which was certainly not ideal!

Makeup-wise, I’ve rediscovered an old favourite in the form of the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation. I picked up a ten-day sample at Boots and it’s seriously saved my butt on a few occasions. If your skin is oily like mine, you’ll know how annoying it is when a shiny t-zone starts to come through after a long, hot day. I’ve worn this on a few occasions when I really needed my makeup to last all day, and sometimes my favourite Diorskin Star Foundation or Diorskin Nude BB Cream just won’t cut it.

I’ve also jumped on two more bandwagons in the last month. The first? Finally getting my hands on some gorgeous Charlotte Tilbury products. I did a review recently of the K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Bitch Perfect (aka, my new favourite nude shade) if you want to check that out, and a review of the Dolce Vita Luxury Eye Shadow Palette will be coming soon. In short though, she did NOT disappoint.

Finally, I posed the following very important question earlier this month to you guys, “Are purple lips a thing??” The response was an overwhelming YES, and I’m in full agreement after doing a complete u-turn and discovering the MAC Heroine Lip Pencil. If you’re a purple sceptic like I was, this beautiful fuchsia shade will definitely convince you.

Finally, I’ve decided I really need to get my life back in order after 3 weeks away and a couple of weeks enjoying my post-exam relaxation period. But I’ll be starting my new job soon, so I felt I really needed a diary to keep up with everything. I found this lovely Espresso Deboss Diary in Paperchase. It’s nice and classic (now that I am a grown up and all that) and the perfect size for slipping into a handbag!

So what have you guys been loving this month? Let me know in the comments or feel free to leave links to your own monthly favourites post!
