Now, I feel this post is coming at a slightly odd time! Just this Sunday, I blogged about my current love for the laidback, “no makeup-makeup” Normcore trend; eg. no fuss, no frills, takes-you-5-minutes-to-get-ready, makeup. So it may seem a bit odd that I’m now focusing on a pair of luxury false lashes, which are about as high-maintenance as you can get! But when the lovely ladies from ESQIDO contacted me for a review…well I could hardly say no, could I?
If I’m being honest though, I’ve never really been into false lashes. I’ve dabbled here and there, especially during my first two years at uni when my social life was a lot more exciting than it is now. However, I always find them a bit of a pain to wear. They’re fiddly, tricky to apply, and often end up falling off throughout the night, leaving you looking like you have a dead spider dangling from your eyelid. But who knows, maybe these ESQIDO falsies, advertised as “the world’s most comfortable false lashes” would be able to change my mind?
ESQIDO specialise in handmade, luxury, mink eyelashes. They can be bought online at esqido.com, and come in a range of designs; from subtle and natural (Little Black Lash) to a bit more va va voom (Lashmopolitan) if that’s more your thing! They promise to stand the test of time and are reusable and always comfortable to wear, thanks to the handcrafted cotton band.
When these beauties arrived in the post, I must admit, I was bowled over by how lovely and pretty they looked. Packaged in a gorgeous, sleek white box, it gently opens up to reveal two little treasures inside. There is always something nice about receiving something which has obviously been packaged and posted with care! It makes you feel as if you’re special, and that the company have really made an effort to give their customers a full experience.
Because these are luxury lashes, take a bit of extra time to apply them. Use some tweezers to remove them from the box, cut them down to size if necessary, and apply glue with care. When something is this pretty, it deserves a bit of TLC don’t you think??
Let’s move on to the most important thing though… How do they feel on?
I went for the Unforgettable design, which is on the more natural side. They give a nice subtle lift to eyes, making them stand out, without looking too OTT. Perfect for me!
I honestly find these lashes do hold up to the company’s bold claims. I’ve worn them a couple of times now and they’re nice and light, soft on skin, and haven’t irritated my eyes in the same way some of the cheaper brands that I’ve used have. They blend in really well with my natural lashes and definitely fall on the side of elegant, Hollywood glamour, as opposed to The Only Way is Essex extreme. They lasted well throughout the night (no dangling spider!) and I didn’t find myself constantly checking myself out in every mirror to make sure they still looked normal. Success!
I don’t think I’ll ever be one of those girls who wears falsies on a regular basis. It’s just too much of a hassle and frankly, I’m too lazy. But these will definitely be making an appearance anytime I have a special occasion, such as a black tie event or a birthday party. For that reason, I think they’re worth the investment! My only criticism would be that they are still quite delicate so extra care and a very light hand is necessary to keep them in good condition!
So what do you guys think of false lashes? Do you have a favourite brand and would you splash out on a luxury pair like this? Let me know in the comments below!
