La Dolce Vita with Charlotte Tilbury

Ok, I have a confession. I’m obsessed with Charlotte Tilbury.

Everything about this woman and her cosmetics line is perfect to me. From her enviable red locks (I’ve always wanted to be a redhead) to the fact she chose rose gold as her signature packaging (I’m soooo into rose gold right now). Basically, I just want to be her, or at least, own her entire skincare and makeup line. Currently though, I only own two CT items, both of which have taken pride of place at the centre of my beauty collection. First, the K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Bitch Perfect, which I reviewed recently and is still my go-to for a perfect nude lip; and second, the Dolce Vita Luxury Eyeshadow Palette.

The Dolce Vita is Charlotte Tilbury’s signature makeup look. Think rusty, bronzey, coppery eyes teamed with a matte pink or berry lip (she recommends pairing the look with her Matte Revolution Lipsticks in either Penelope Pink or Bond Girl). I absolutely love the combination of these colours as I’m a big fan of anything copper or bronze. In fact, I did a post a couple of months ago with my favourite copper makeup products here if you fancy checking that out.

The Luxury Palettes contain four different complementary shades; 1. Prime, 2. Enhance, 3. Smoke, and 4. Pop.

  • First use the Prime shade – which in this case is a gorgeous cream colour with a hint of highlight – all over the lid to ensure everything is prepped and ready.
  • Next, take the Enhance shade – a rusty red which is absolutely stunning – and apply that all over the lid using a shading brush.
  • Using a crease brush (I recommend either the MAC 217 or the Real Techniques Shading Brush), apply the Smoke – a fawny, matte brown – at the outer corners of your eyelid, in the crease, and along the bottom lash line. This will give you that beautiful smoky eye look.
  • Finally, using your finger, press the Pop shade – a copper glitter – into the centre of your eyelid. This will magically catch the light all night and really make your eyes sparkle.

This palette is an absolute dream! The shadows are buttery, pigmented and just beautiful! I also love that the colours are quite different (I haven’t come across a red-toned palette before) but complement each other so well. I really think the reddish/bronze tones will suit all colourings and complexions.

This is also such a nice alternative to a traditional black and white smoky eye. It’s a little less harsh and I’ve received a lot of compliments on my makeup when wearing it!

Finally, the sleek packaging makes it really easy for portable use. It’s great for when I have a weekend away and don’t want to pack a massive eyeshadow palette to only use a few of the shades. I know if I take this somewhere, I’ll use every single shade.

Overall, I cannot recommend this palette enough! Yes, it’s expensive at £38, but I know I’ll get so much use out of it. I now massively have my eye on The Uptown Girl and The Vintage Vamp palettes, but they may have to wait till my birthday 😉

So what do you guys think of the Charlotte Tilbury palette and the whole range in general? Would you splash out on anything or do you have any budget dupes to recommend? And let me know in the comments what your favourite Charlotte Tilbury purchases have been!

Check back in on Friday for more beauty, and in the meantime, feel free to follow on Bloglovin’, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest 🙂

  1. This quad in particular is so beautiful! I’ve had it on my wishlist for so long! Just a little scared to bite the bullet and buy it but it looks so gorgeous I will have to get my hands on it sooner than later!

    1. I was exactly the same. I really wanted it but it was just so expensive! Finally after getting my degree I felt I deserved a treat and took the plunge. Definitely don’t regret it! Sometimes expensive products can be a bit of a let down but I’ve been using this non stop! xxx

    1. I’m quite a newbie too! I’ve only tried the K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Bitch Perfect (which is beautiful!) and this palette. I’ve heard loads of good things about the Filmstar Bronze & Glow contour palette, the lip pencils and the blushes, so you could check out those too! xxx

  2. I too adore Charlotte Tilbury! I am between Vintage Vamp and Glamour Muse for which quad I really want 😃 I must admit though I was recently disappointed in her cream filmstar 😔 I don’t know what I expected, I swatched it and it looked stunning, but on it just fell flat for me especially for the price 😔 I think it also has to do with the fact I have her Ibiza beach stick and her summer highlighter that I don’t have a need for the cream filmstar. I’m still going to test it out and hopefully I fall in love because I really like the packaging xoxo Janet

    1. Oh thats such a shame! I’ve heard the powder one is amazing so maybe the cream just isn’t quite up to the high standard. I’d really like to try the original one day. I agree that the packaging is to die for! Anything rose gold always catches my eye. Thanks for reading Janet 🙂 xxxx

      1. Yes I love the powder one and I think I expected it to be like that and equally as good but sadly for me it was not. I do look forward to her serum foundation and beautiful highlighter coming out for the fall/winter 😻

      2. I’m in the same boat and try to buy only one piece a month. I got lucky when Nordstrom had a sale with a bunch of her basic pieces and my husband said I could eat it. I love everything of hers!

  3. Very pretty!! I have The Uptown Girl quad and it’s my favorite for wintery-eyes! I’ve been thinking about getting the Filmstar Bronze and Glow forever, but with the new holiday Hourglass palette coming out I don’t know which one to choose!

    1. Thanks! Ooh the Uptown Girl is next on my list. I like that the colours are more cool toned where as this has warm tones. I need both in my life! I’ve also been wondering whether to get the Bronze & Glow (haven’t heard about the Hourglass one so I’ll have to check that out too). I’m tempted to ask for it for my birthday! xxx

  4. What a gorgeous palette! I haven’t heard too much about CT’s eye shadows – mostly about her lippies and face products. I can imagine these shades would be so versatile to create a multitude of looks! I’ll have to check this out at the counter – the brand recently launched in Canada but I haven’t had a chance to go see it in person.

    1. They’re so beautiful. I want everything from the range now haha. Oh that’s so good it’s launched in Canada. They currently only stock it in Selfridges in the uk so I have to wait to go to London to have a proper look. Thanks for reading Hun xxx
