Ok, I have a confession. I’m obsessed with Charlotte Tilbury.
Everything about this woman and her cosmetics line is perfect to me. From her enviable red locks (I’ve always wanted to be a redhead) to the fact she chose rose gold as her signature packaging (I’m soooo into rose gold right now). Basically, I just want to be her, or at least, own her entire skincare and makeup line. Currently though, I only own two CT items, both of which have taken pride of place at the centre of my beauty collection. First, the K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Bitch Perfect, which I reviewed recently and is still my go-to for a perfect nude lip; and second, the Dolce Vita Luxury Eyeshadow Palette.
The Dolce Vita is Charlotte Tilbury’s signature makeup look. Think rusty, bronzey, coppery eyes teamed with a matte pink or berry lip (she recommends pairing the look with her Matte Revolution Lipsticks in either Penelope Pink or Bond Girl). I absolutely love the combination of these colours as I’m a big fan of anything copper or bronze. In fact, I did a post a couple of months ago with my favourite copper makeup products here if you fancy checking that out.
The Luxury Palettes contain four different complementary shades; 1. Prime, 2. Enhance, 3. Smoke, and 4. Pop.
- First use the Prime shade – which in this case is a gorgeous cream colour with a hint of highlight – all over the lid to ensure everything is prepped and ready.
- Next, take the Enhance shade – a rusty red which is absolutely stunning – and apply that all over the lid using a shading brush.
- Using a crease brush (I recommend either the MAC 217 or the Real Techniques Shading Brush), apply the Smoke – a fawny, matte brown – at the outer corners of your eyelid, in the crease, and along the bottom lash line. This will give you that beautiful smoky eye look.
- Finally, using your finger, press the Pop shade – a copper glitter – into the centre of your eyelid. This will magically catch the light all night and really make your eyes sparkle.
This palette is an absolute dream! The shadows are buttery, pigmented and just beautiful! I also love that the colours are quite different (I haven’t come across a red-toned palette before) but complement each other so well. I really think the reddish/bronze tones will suit all colourings and complexions.
This is also such a nice alternative to a traditional black and white smoky eye. It’s a little less harsh and I’ve received a lot of compliments on my makeup when wearing it!
Finally, the sleek packaging makes it really easy for portable use. It’s great for when I have a weekend away and don’t want to pack a massive eyeshadow palette to only use a few of the shades. I know if I take this somewhere, I’ll use every single shade.
Overall, I cannot recommend this palette enough! Yes, it’s expensive at £38, but I know I’ll get so much use out of it. I now massively have my eye on The Uptown Girl and The Vintage Vamp palettes, but they may have to wait till my birthday 😉
So what do you guys think of the Charlotte Tilbury palette and the whole range in general? Would you splash out on anything or do you have any budget dupes to recommend? And let me know in the comments what your favourite Charlotte Tilbury purchases have been!
