When it comes to makeup and skincare, I think I’d be perfectly content if I only had access to the 3 Cs: Chanel, Clinique and Clarins. It’s taken me a while to love Clarins quite as much as the other two, but I actually think it’s a very underrated brand among younger women! The skincare is really popular with the more mature age bracket (my mum loves it) but makeup-wise, it doesn’t get that much attention…
After quite a few of you seemed to enjoy my Chanel Edit, I thought I’d do part 2 – maybe I’ll make it a series; thoughts? – and this time focus on the lovely Clarins. So here are some of my favourite products from the range, as well as a few I haven’t been such a fan of…
Moisture-Rich Body Lotion: Oooh I’m so in love with this lotion. Containing shea butter to soften up those limbs and candlenut oil for hydration, this creamy formula is so luxurious, but not at all greasy. It doesn’t leave your sheets feeling all gross after application (the worst!) and the smell is also divine.,, Orange blossom and peach?? mmmm
Tonic Bath and Shower Concentrate: Had a hard week? This bath concentrate always makes me feel a little better. I love the aromas of rosemary, mint and geranium, and I always feel like I’ve just stepped into a top spa. Plus, it leaves skin feeling so soft and smooth.
Beauty Flash Balm: I dedicated a whole post to this amazing balm here if you fancy reading more. It’s the perfect in-between of primer and skincare. It keeps my makeup in place, while leaving everything feeling plump and dewy. This is also such a life saver if you’re on a flight or long journey. Apply a light layer before take-off, sit back, and let it do its Flash Balm magic.
I wasn’t a huge fan of the Gentle Eye Makeup Remover (finding it a bit grainy and not particularly effective). I also really had issues with the Hydraquench Face Cream and Intensive Serum when I took a few sample sizes on a weekend away. After just two days, they gave me a really bad breakout – which disappeared as soon as I switched back to my regular skincare. However, this could be because it’s aimed mainly at dry or mature skin, while I have oily skin, so maybe it just wasn’t for me!
Clarins Aquatic Treasures Bronzing Compact: Now, I did an entire post about this bronzer not too long ago here, so I won’t go on for too long. It is, however, quite frankly, the best bronzer I’ve ever used. I’m obsessed, and think I’ve used it nearly every day since I bought it. The very subtle shimmer and golden-peach tones mean it shouldn’t be used to contour, but just for getting that post-holiday glow. And can we talk about how gorgeous it is??! Almost too pretty to use, and I think I almost cried the other day when I dropped it on my bathroom floor and the lid snapped off *sob*. Genuine devastation right there.
Rouge Eclat Lipstick in Juicy Clementine: I feel like the Clarins lipsticks don’t seem to get the attention they deserve. This is one of my favourite lipsticks of all time (it’s featured in my Top 5 Red Lipsticks). I just love the super creamy formula, the orange-toned red which is so flattering on all complexions, and the beautiful sheen it gives off. Plus, the packaging is another real winner, don’t you think?
So what do you guys think of my Clarins choices? How do you feel about the brand in general? Is it one of your favourites? And do you have any products to recommend (or not)?? Let me know in the comments!
