Hello everyone! Hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend. Apologies for this post coming out slightly later in the day than usual, but I’ve been in London and the weather was just too darn beautiful to be stuck inside on my laptop. Now that the sun’s gone in though, let’s get to it…
Today I wanted to share with you my favourite beauty products from the drugstore. I’m a firm believer that a luxury price doesn’t always mean great quality, and vice versa. In fact, some of my favourite ever buys have been found in the aisles of Boots and Superdrug, rather than Chanel and Dior. I’ve picked out my 7 all-time favourites and I’ve counted up the price, and all 7 come to just over £40! Not bad considering that’s about the price of one Chanel foundation…
Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer (£6.99): This stuff is perfect for correcting under-eye dark circles and getting rid of all those signs of a late night out. It’s really lightweight, doesn’t crease or cause dry patches, and stays put all day. If you’re looking for a concealer with good coverage though, I’d try something else; this is much more of a highlighting concealer!
Rimmel Kate Matte Lipstick (£5.49): When it comes to lipsticks, Rimmel really have it down with these Kate Moss creations. They’re so long-lasting and I love the creamy matte texture. My favourite has to be the shade 107 Wine. It’s the perfect Autumn berry tone.
Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder (£8.99): I’ve been wanting to try this powder for ages as it’s one of the most raved about drugstore products on the market, and it hasn’t disappointed. This is a lovely light setting powder which keeps your makeup in place but doesn’t look at all cakey. I like to dust this all over my foundation with a fluffy powder brush for a dewy, natural look.
Makeup Revolution Iconic 1 Palette (£4): I still cannot get over that this eyeshadow palette was only £4. It’s such a great dupe of the Urban Decay Naked Palettes (with pretty much exactly the same shades!) if you don’t want to fork out over £30. The shadows aren’t quite as pigmented as the UD version, but at a fraction of the price, I think I’ll forgive them. Now I just need to buy palettes 2 and 3….
Maybelline Great Lash Mascara (£4.99): I’ve always maintained that there is no real difference between a high-end and a low-end mascara. This £5 version is amazing for lengthening lashes without making them look clumpy or spider-like *shudder*.
Models Own Eyelash Curler (£5.99): I know there are lots of people out there who swear by their Shu Uemura £20 eyelash curler, but frankly this one has always done the job. I love the pretty colours it comes in and it’s nice and small so easy for travelling with.
Sleek Shimmer Blush in Life’s a Peach (£4.99): This was a recent discovery and I featured it in my August Favourites. I think Sleek blushes are absolutely amazing, and I especially love the shade of this one. It’s got that nice pop of colour without making you look like a tangerine. This is ideal when you’re going for a natural, “healthy glow” look.
So what do you guys think of my choices? Have you tried any or would you like to? And I’d love to hear what your favourite drugstore items are too! Let me know in the comments below..
