Like many people, I seem to have a love/hate relationship with the Benefit Cosmetics brand… On the one hand, I love that it has its own very distinctive style with bright, funky packaging and quirky names (chachatint anyone?). On the other hand, this exact style has kind of caused me to go off it in the last couple of years. I mean, no self-respecting 22 year-old working woman can be seen using a product called “License to Blot” right??
All kidding aside, I just mean that this brand definitely seems targeted towards the early to late teens who are just starting to get into makeup, although it has to be said there’s actually some really fantastic products (High Beam was my first ever expensive makeup purchase and I’m still just as in love with it to this day.) So even though I’ve firmly graduated onto the more grown-up makeup lines such as Estee Lauder and Charlotte Tilbury, I’ll always have a little place in my heart for the first “high-end” brand I was ever introduced to.
One product that I’ve always been meaning to try though was the the POREfessional Primer. This is always raved about by any girl who falls within the oily skin category, as it’s supposed to help your makeup remain flawless and shine-free all day. It also supposedly has amazing pore-erasing qualities to instantly blur out any imperfections. Well, did it live up to my expectations?
Well… not exactly. Don’t get me wrong, I do this this primer is successful in improving the longevity of my makeup. But I wouldn’t say that there’s enough of an effect to justify the high price. I don’t really see any difference in the visibility of my pores, so I’m not sure about the “blurring and perfecting” claim… Plus, there is a slight greasy consistency to the formula which just doesn’t feel very pleasant on your skin. It’s a bit thick, and that makes me nervous!
I find this primer works best when I just apply it to a few key areas e.g. around the edges of my nose, my T-zone and my chin. However, for the price I just don’t think I’ll be repurchasing and I’m glad I decided to try a sample-size first. I don’t see enough of a difference to justify the spend for a larger bottle. Sorry Benefit! This one’s a no from me…
I’d love to hear your opinions on the Benefit Porefessional Primer? Have you tried it or would you like to? And do you have any recommendations for a great primer?
