The Winter Nail Edit

DSC05117

If you caught my Autumn Nail Edit, you’ll have seen I enforced a new ‘cardinal beauty rule’. This was essentially to stop hoarding and buying new nail polishes which I end up only using a few times before they lie sadly forgotten about in the back of a drawer. The rule? I can only buy 3 new nail polishes each season and they have to be ‘seasonally appropriate’. If you think this sounds like no big deal, you’ve obviously never met me and witnessed my borderline makeup addiction…

Well this winter, I’ve surprisingly been even more good than planned as I actually only bought one of the three polishes myself with the other two being freebies *pats self on back*. Now I know you might initially look at these colours and think “Winter? Really?” as the shades are quite bright and colourful (I usually associate the colder months with dark and neutral shades), but actually I find it’s always nice to add a splash of colour to my monochrome outfits this time of year. A dash of red lipstick paired with a black shirt is pretty much what I live in right now… Plus, the winter season is filled with festivities and these three shades have been perfect for any celebration event.

Ok, enough rambling… Let me show you my choices!

SABON Beauty Nail Polish in Romantic Blush: I was kindly given a goodie box by the lovely ladies from SABON and this was one of the products they sent over (read my full review here). This nail polish is such a gorgeous shade and I feel like the name really does it justice! It’s kind of a dusky rose, not too pink but still very pretty and feminine, and it’s perfect for day or night.

NAILS INC Polish in Colville Mews: This was my second freebie of the season. I spotted Glamour Magazine were offering a free nail polish in one of their issues which I quickly dashed to pick up. I’m obsessed with this colour. I would say it’s definitely been my most-worn of every shade I own this season. It’s a lovely bone-coloured, pale nude which just goes with everything. There’s something about nude nails looking so sophisticated and I’m always getting compliments on this one in particular!

Essie Polish in Fifth Avenue: This is a bit of a classic in the beauty world… I was very late to the Essie party but they’ve fast become my favourite nail polish brand. Fifth Avenue has been my go-to red this season for evenings out, especially during the festive period. It’s a gorgeous orangey-red which is probably one of the most flattering shades on any skin tone. I love wearing this paired with my NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Red Square. They complement each other perfectly!

What do you guys think of my winter nail polish picks? What have been your favourite shades this season?

Check back in on Monday for a brand new beauty post 🙂

  1. I’ve been wearing a really similar orangey red (Rita Ora for Rimmel -Glastonberry) to the Essie nail polish this winter. I love wearing bright colours during the colder months to add some colour to my look. Great selection 🙂 xx
