We all know I love me a good MAC Lipstick. From the extensive colour range (seriously I didn’t know it was possible to have that many shades of nude?) to the long-lasting formula and yummy vanilla scent, you just can’t really beat them… What doesn’t get talked about quite so often though is there lip pencil range, which I think is one of the best on the market.
Not only are lip pencils fab because you can use them to line your lips and stop lipstick from bleeding at the edges, but you can also just use them all over for a colour on its own. Plus, they tend to last a lot longer than their lipstick counterparts. I only have a small collection of MAC pencils so far, but the ones I have I absolutely adore…
In Control (pictured): This is the most ‘everyday’ shade in my collection, and I actually bought it specifically to go alongside my favourite MAC Mehr Lipstick. Usually people would recommend Soar for this, but it seems to constantly be sold out everywhere and the shop assistant recommended this one instead. Like Mehr, it’s a really interesting, unique colour. Kind of a browny, purply nude (great description there Jo). It has a bit more of a red/pink tone to it than Soar so I’d be interested to compare the two. The only downside with the Pro Longer pencils as opposed to the standard ones is that they don’t appear to be able to be sharpened, meaning they run out very quickly. The two I own below will last me forever as they can just continuously be sharpened down like an eyeliner.
Heroine (review): The most ‘out there’ lip shade I own. It’s a bright purple, which before you cross off your list, is surprisingly wearable. The lipstick form is much more intense and I think quite difficult to pull off if you’re of a fairer skin tone. This pencil however, is slightly more subtle. I love wearing this with an all back outfit for a pop of colour.
Cherry: The classic red. This is a really versatile shade which goes with most of my red lipsticks. I love using this as a liner as it helps give me some control when applying a bold lip (I’m less likely to smudge it everywhere). This shade goes particularly well with Ruby Woo; one of my all time favourites.
I hope you enjoyed this post! What do you think of my chosen shades, and are there any you would really recommend?
