The Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer seems to be one of those products which every big beauty blogger/youtuber raves about. I think it might have been Zoella who first made it popular, claiming its the best drugstore concealer for covering up dark under-eye circles, and since then it’s become a bit of a cult product.
Recently I’ve been really noticing the bags under my eyes. They just keep showing up and I am not liking it one bit – is this what happens when you hit your 20s and get a full time job?? Anyway, I figured that as it’s only £3.99, I might as well give this a go just to see if it would finally help me banish those bags (or at least cover them up a little).
So what’s the verdict?
Well, I can’t quite make up my mind yet about this concealer. On the one hand, it certainly does a great job of covering up any imperfections. It’s quite thick and heavy, meaning it needs a little work to blend in – I like to dab it with my finger first to warm it up a little then go in with a beauty blending sponge – but this does mean it won’t budge. I know that I can apply this first thing in the morning before I head to work and it will still be there by the time I get home in the evening.
On the other hand though, it is very thick. I like my makeup to have a nice, soft texture, you know what I mean? If you’re applying something to your skin, you don’t really want it to feel like a heavy paint. If that’s your thing then obviously go for it, but personally I like something that feels just as nice as it looks – something like the Urban Decay Naked Concealer. It also smells a little bit funky. I can’t really explain in what way; just not particularly pleasant which slightly puts me off.
Overall, I would definitely give this concealer a thumbs up. Yes, it’s not perfect and I’m not sure I’m sold on the texture, but in terms of coverage and staying power, it does what it says on the tin, and for less than £4, I can put up with the negatives!
