Life Update | Back From A Blogging Break And A New Job

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

Hi everyone! It’s been a little while since I last posted on here so I thought before diving into the beauty-related posts, I’d sit down and have a little chat. Hence the photo of tea, because well… you can’t have a chat without tea right?

So I decided to take a little spontaneous break from blogging for a few weeks. It wasn’t really planned to be honest, but the days just kept slipping by and I really didn’t feel like picking up my laptop or camera. Ever feel like that?  I think to be honest everything’s just been very stressful lately, what with moving back from Paris and into a new flat with my friend, preparing for a big presentation at work, and studying for my marketing qualification. When you’re spending all day and most evenings staring at a computer screen, you don’t really want to do it in your free time as well!

On a more fun note though, it was actually my birthday this weekend! It was a pretty jam-packed few days including a lovely dinner with my boyfriend on the Friday night, a girls’ brunch followed by dinner and dancing with friends on Saturday, and an evening at a spa on Monday. My god I needed a proper relaxation and facial by that point!

To top it all off, I’ve started the final 6month rotation on my graduate scheme. I’ve been in the Digital and Content team for just over 3 weeks, so everything’s still very new and exciting… The role is a lot more technical than my previous two rotations which were in PR and Brand and Comms (TV campaigns etc.). Now I’m learning all about the techy, analytical side of marketing with words like SEO, PPC and Forecasting flying about every day. It’s very fun but quite challenging so I’ve really had to concentrate.

Essentially, what I’m trying to say, is that sometimes it’s necessary to give yourself a bit of a break every now and again and set something to the side for a while. It doesn’t have to be forever, but in order to do something well, sometimes other things have got to give. For me, I really wanted to concentrate on settling into my new job and enjoying my birthday weekend, but now I can start introducing blogging again. I’m also now filled with a bit more inspiration for new post and video ideas!

Well thank you if you’ve actually made it to the end of this ramble (give yourself a pat on the back). Keep an eye out for a new beauty post coming Thursday 🙂

  1. Happy Belated Birthday Joanna!
I can definitely relate to the need for a break. I did that for nearly my entire birthday month then came back feeling refreshed and full of ideas.
It sounds like you have been super busy so that is also a good reason to spend some time away.
    Welcome back ❤

  2. Hey Joanna! This was really helpful. I’ve always felt guilty whenever I don’t maintain 2 blog posts per week. Some days my brain really goes blank😅. Now I understand I’ve to prioritise my life, Thanks!

  3. Glad you had a lovely birthday!
I completely understand the thing with not wanting to look at a computer when you get home as well. It gets really tiring.
The work you do on your graduate scheme sounds like it’s very relevant to the technical side of blogging as well..that must be handy 🙂

  4. Happy belated birthday! 😀
And yes, it’s nice to have a little break. You’ll know when it’s time to come back – once you start missing it. And you know it’s time to slow down – when you start feeling like blogging is a chore. 😉

  5. Happy belated birthday! And I COMPLETELY understand what you mean. I haven’t been blogging for long but in general, life gets a little crazy sometimes and you just need to step back and take some time for yourself. I’m glad you did it and I’m glad you’re back!
