My MAC Reds

MAC Ruby Woo vs MAC Lady Danger vs MAC Chili

Everyone loves a MAC lipstick right? No other brand tops them in terms of sheer range of colours and finishes; from Creamsheen and Satin, to Matte and Amplified – they have you covered!

My personal collection of MAC lipsticks has grown quite considerably over the last couple of years – even since my most recent video where I only had five of them (I think I’ve since added another four) – but there’s still quite a few more I’d love to try! Three out of the nine happen to be red, my favourite colour of all. Now I know you may be thinking, why would you need three red lipsticks?? But I swear, they’re all quite different shades!!

To start with, there’s one of the first MAC lipstick I ever bought (after Blankety) – and it’s one of their all time classics. Ruby Woo is a matte formula and can only be described as a true red. It’s an extremely vivid red, with an underlying blue tone (which helps to make your teeth look whiter!) and the matte quality helps to give it a really vintage, retro feel. This is the perfect lipstick for an event or party as it’s incredibly long-lasting. If anything, it’s a little too long-lasting; you’ll still be finding remnants on your lips a few days later! The seriously matte quality does mean it’s quite difficult to apply, so I recommend using it after a MAC Lip Pencil in either Cherry or Ruby Woo to help you stay inside the lines… You can see it on the lips in my MAC Lipstick Collection Video.

If you’re not so in to super bright reds, you may want to consider something a bit more wearable like MAC Chili. This is a kind of rusty, dark red which I’m obsessed with for autumn/winter. If I want to wear a red lipstick during the day without looking too OTT, then this is what I’ll go for. Again you can see it on the lips in this video.

My final red – and possibly my favourite – is MAC Lady Danger; a bright orange-toned red perfect for summer or the festive season. I feel like this is one of the most flattering lipsticks I own as it always helps me to look much more awake and lively! This paired with a golden bronze smoky eye is going to be my go-to night time look this season.

I’d love to know if you own any MAC red lipsticks? Which is your favourite shade and which would you like to own?

  1. I love the look of all of these! I own Ruby Woo and a shade by Revlon similar to Lady Danger. I’d go as far as to say that Ruby Woo is the perfect red for everyone. It’s such a flattering shade ❤

  2. I love these colours! I don’t normally tend to go for red (I’m more of a nude lipstick girl) but I do own MAC Fresh Moroccan which is a deep red with shimmer in it which is super pretty

  3. My all time favourite red is Russian Red and I would love to give Ruby Woo a try as well – I’ve recently posted a blog post about my MAC lipstick collection if you want to check it out 💕
