Now we all know that a trip to New York would be nothing without a little bit of shopping… And if you’re anything like me, which chances are you are as you’re reading this blog, then that will probably include some sort of beauty haul.
Since leaving Paris, I’ve been seriously missing the regular trips to the Champs Elysees Sephora. So I was very excited to venture across the pond and stock up on all those products I can’t get hold of here.
I made a list of things I had my eye on, realised it was about the length of my arm, and proceeded to cut it down to my top 7 items which I’d then try and test in store and decide between. This kept me on track so I didn’t waste any of my dollars on spontaneous purchases which I was likely to regret…
It was a pretty small haul in the end (only 5 things), so read on for my first impressions!
IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream: This is one of those cult beauty products which I knew I just had to try. A full coverage CC cream with SPF 50 and a dewy moisturising formula, this is constantly raved about by the big beauty bloggers. On first impressions, I’m really happy with this stuff. I love that it gives a good amount of coverage without looking too cakey or flat. The ‘your skin but better’ description is completely apt!
NARS Mini Creamy Radiant Concealer: Probably one of the most famous concealers on the market… I thought I’d take the opportunity to buy one of the mini travel-sized versions just in case I wasn’t too impressed with it. So far, I think this is a very nice concealer (probably top 5 of ones I’ve tried) but I’m not sure I love it as much as the Urban Decay Naked Concealer or even the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer.
Tarte Tartelette In Bloom Clay Eyeshadow Palette: Tarte’s a brand I’ve been wanting to try for ages, and this palette caught my eye above anything else. I mean, just look at that packaging?? I think it’s one of the prettiest palettes I’ve ever seen! The shades are a really nice mix of mattes and shimmers, with a lot of beautiful cool and warm toned neutrals – the perfect starter palette in my view. I’ve given this a bit of a try and I’m looking forward to experimenting with it a bit more. Watch this space…
Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick in Lolita: Of course, I had to pick up something from Kat von D; in the end going for her best selling liquid lipstick shade ‘Lolita’. Now I have to be honest, this is the only thing from my haul that I’ve been quite disappointed with! I found it quite difficult to apply, it went patchy after a couple of hours, and I’m not even that keen on the colour! I’ll give it a couple more attempts, just in case, but so far… naht loving it.
Sephora Algae Sheet Mask: Whenever I’m in a Sephora, I have to pick up one of their sheet masks. They’re perfect for travelling with and incredibly hydrating. This Detoxifying Algae one is my personal fave, as it just leaves my skin feeling really clean.
I’m excited to test all these out even more. Keep an eye out for the full reviews coming soon! A new post will be up on Wednesday 🙂
Have you guys tried any of these products? What are your thoughts?
