After finishing the YSL Babydoll Mascara – e.g. my new favourite – I went back to the good old Maybelline Great Lash. The only problem? I just didn’t love it that much anymore! Once I’d dipped my toe into the pool of luxury mascaras, I just couldn’t seem to turn back…
So on that note I treated myself to a post exam gift from Charlotte Tilbury at the weekend. A similar luxurious golden design as the YSL version, the Legendary Lashes Mascara is exactly what I want to reach for on a cold Christmassy morning.
So how does this perform? Well, the wand itself is a bit fatter than I’m used to. I tend to gravitate towards the slimmer shapes which are a bit easier to work with. On the other hand, I won’t deny this really gives some serious volume. Even after one coat, my lashes instantly look immensely thicker, longer and lifted. Two coats gives an even more dramatic effect and I’ve found the curl held really well throughout the day – even after an afternoon of stressfully manoevering between the Christmas shopping crowds on Sunday and a day in an air conned office today.
I did find there to be a minor bit of smudging today, with a little bit of mascara ending up around my bottom lash line, but that may have been due to me rubbing my eyes at one point! Other than that though, I don’t think I have a negative to say about this mascara!
So do I love it as much as the YSL Babydoll??… I’m not sure. I feel like this one gives better volume and intensity, while the YSL gives more of a natural, lengthened and separated curl so it depends what I’m going for! This would be my choice for a night out or event, while Babydoll would be my everyday/evening pick.
Have you ever tried the Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes Mascara? What did you think? And do you have any other recommendations?
Hope you’ve enjoyed Day 2 of 12 Days of Blogmas! Check back in tomorrow for Day 3 as I’ve got a winter makeup look coming your way 🙂
