What I Got For Christmas 2016

Hi everyone, hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! On my part, I’m just so happy to have a bit of time off from work. It’s been lovely sleeping in, watching movies on the sofa, and having a leisurely read (ahh reading for pleasure, so taken for granted!). Of course, I’ve also loved catching up with friends and family, and being back in my own hometown is a dream!

I’m hoping that in 2017 I’ll be able to get back into blogging more regularly, so I thought I’d kick it off by showing you a few of the bits I got for Christmas this year. Now bla bla bla – this isn’t meant to be showing off – I just always enjoy having a good old nosey at what other people got, so thought you guys might too!

Beauty Bits

Chanel No5 L’Eau – I really fancied a new fragrance this year after running out of my all time favourite Guerlain Mitsouko. This seemed like the perfect one to try! I find this to be a lighter, younger version of the original Chanel No5 (which I’m not actually a massive fan of). There’s still elements of those underlying unique, sophisticated notes, but it’s not as overpowering!

Davines Hair Care – My hairdresser always uses Davines products in his salon, and everytime I leave my hair just feels so silky and soft! So I can hopefully achieve this at home, my mum bought me the NouNou Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner for Coloured Treated Hair, as well as the Minu Illuminating Hair Serum which is one of my essentials for everyday styling.

Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm – If you read my recent Cleansing Balms 101 post, you’ll have seen that this is one of my stand out products of 2016. I absolutely love this stuff for removing my makeup quickly and gently!

Miscellaneous

Midnight Jasmine Yankee Candle – I love a good candle; I pretty much burn one every night! This is a really nice fresh, floral scent, perfect for bathtime!

Ted Baker Makeup Bags – As I’ve started travelling more regularly, and I’m constantly hopping on a train down to London for the weekend, I was in need of a new washbag. One that hasn’t yet been stained with an accidentally unscrewed bottle of foundation! The large and medium sized Ted Baker bags feel much more glam than my previous ones; they’re so pretty you could probably use them as a normal clutch bag!

Coffee Table Books – I’m working on my coffee table book collection for when I buy my first home. I just love having them around the house for guests to flick through over a cup of tea. The two I asked for this year were the Lonely Planet’s Ultimate Travelist for some wanderlust inspiration (next up on my wishlist is California, Iceland, Japan, Cambodia and Vietnam), and Lisa Eldridge’s Face Paint: The Story of Makeup. Lisa pretty much has my dream job – Creative Director at Lancome – so I can’t wait to read her book.

Alongside these I also received a mountain of chocolates, a lovely new dressing gown and set of pyjamas, and a few more books. Overall I was very spoiled!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and that you all had an amazing day. Keep an eye out for a new post tomorrow 🙂

Thanks for reading! Joanna xxx

  1. Lovely post Joanna and it was nice to hear how you spent your holiday. I think Christmas week can be good for just chilling, reading for pleasure and catching up on good TV. I love receiving books this time of year, I got a few from family members that I’m excited to get into. I see you have be given Face Paint, it looks like a wonderful coffee table book. Wishing you peace and happiness in 2017! 🙂 xx
